Tiling an outdoor table

I have an outdoor table where the table top was damaged by hail.  I could not afford to replace the table so my dad made a frame for it to sit on top of the table top with rock board so I could tile it.

You can see I painted the trim with deck stain to protect the wood.  Also, I dry laid out the tiles – that’s the outlined shapes you see on the rock board.  It sat like that when it rained a couple of times, and nature did the outline for me!

I used a pre-mixed ceramic tile adhesive to attach the tiles.

As you can see I used tiles, tile pieces, and decorative rocks to fill in between the larger pieces of tiles.  At this point in the project, I hope that the grout will ‘finish’ the table.  I am a little nervous for how this will turn out.

After grouting, I did seal the grout to withstand rain.  We will see how the weather elements affect the table.

Below are pictures of the finished product!

I think the table came out pretty well, and I have gotten a number of compliments on it!

What do you think?  I would love to hear from you!
