“Clear your mind of ‘can’t.'” –Samuel Johnson
Now that we are in 2017 for a couple of weeks already, this is a good reminder for all of us with or without New Year resolutions to know we can do whatever we set our minds to.
My workout partner and I remind each other that we can do it. It’s funny, both of us dislike (I say hate) the Toughness Test that our Personal Trainer has us do. Keep in mind that this set goes like this:
19 sit ups holding a 25 lb weight above your head, then 1 burpee, 18 sit ups holding a 25 lb weight above your head, then 2 burpees, 17 sit ups holding a 25 lb weight above your head, then 3 burpees…etc. to 1 sit up holding a 25 lb weight above your head, then 19 burpees. All sets add up to 20.
The word ‘can’t’ is used among other words as we do the reps because this set is super tough, and often I am sore for days afterwards. Both my workout partner and I keep improving our times on this, but it is certainly not fun, but we can do it!
