“People are looking for the new beige. Gray is the new beige. It’s extremely flexible.” –Jonathan Rachman
Designer Jonathan Rachman says to identify the source of your gray obsession. For me, it’s usually weathered wood. And, for the latest project I worked on for the bachelor pad in Final Reveal, his entire place was gray so we needed to spruce it up with pops of color and in his case the color red.
Another tip from Rachman, is to get sample of the gray paint color you think you want, plus one each of a shade lighter, darker, more saturated, and less saturated. The range of samples will help refine your choice.
“Combine the right materials to keep gray from being cold,” Rachman says. In a gray room, natural rugs, warm wood tones and pops of color break up the grayness.
